At Calthorpe Academy, we use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). The overall aim of PBS is to improve the quality of the child’s life and the quality of life of those around them.
It is an evidence-based approach that looks at adapting the environment to meet the needs of the child and teaching new skills. PBS focuses on teaching alternative behaviour that meets the same needs as the behaviour that challenges in a more appropriate way. We believe that behaviour is a form of meaningful communication and therefore every effort should be made to understand and respond appropriately to this communication.
